The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store of Ann Arbor has been serving the community since 1968. Located at 1001 Broadway, the store is open to the public for shopping Monday through Friday 10AM-5PM, and Saturday 10AM-3PM. In addition to cash and local checks, we accept Visa and MasterCard payments for purchases totaling at least $5.

Proceeds from sales support the Society's mission to serve the poor in the community. Through a referral system, the store gives free clothing to about 100 men and women each month, a mission that underscores its unique character. Any surplus funds generated by operations are used to offset the expenses of our other forms of assistance to persons in need.

We accept and display only the most gently used, highest quality items of clothing and household goods. Walking into the shop, clients and customers find a warm and organized atmosphere. Shoppers can browse through name brand items as well as things characteristic of specialty shops. Two fitting rooms are available for trying out clothing. The back of the store holds household goods, linens, hardware and bric-a-brac.

The St. Thomas Conference of St. Vincent de Paul began in 1935 and is the only Conference serving the Ann Arbor area. The aim of the Society is to bring the friendship of true charity to all. It is not simply distributing goods to the needy; it is fundamentally the giving of oneself in friendship, which can only be done through personal encounter. At the same time, members grow spiritually by experiencing the Lord in one another and those whom they serve.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is easy to join. There is no initiation procedure. The principle qualification is the desire to join with others to help those in need, for the love of God.
